Fun Friday Links

Wow, it's definitely Winter in Melbourne. Rain, cold, grey skies, and a baby with a horrible cough. Hooray!

Hopefully you can warm yourself up with these great links though!

- Watch this massive crowd waiting to watch Green Day spontaneously sing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Will singing flash mobs be the new dance flash mobs?

- The Kitchen Coquette lists their best dessert recipes. Soft centred chocolate tortini with Ferrero Roche crumble, anyone? YES PLEASE.

- Six fairytales for the modern woman. Love this:

- Do you have Bitchy Resting Face? You're not alone.

- A bride requested that her guests undertook a 21 day vegan cleanse so they would look good on her day. I'll just let you absorb that for a minute.

I know, right?? If I knew that bride I would decline the invitation to her wedding with a note and a photograph of myself stuffing a hamburger, a chocolate shake, and some greasy shoestring fries down my throat.

And on that note, happy weekend everyone! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

People, it is nearly JUNE. That means WINTER IS COMING. That is crazy.

To distract ourselves from the impending misery of a Melbourne Winter, let's look at some links!

- You need to watch this man's conversations with his 2 year old daughter, as acted out between him and another adult. Hilarious.

- 15 reasons why Dylan McKay is the perfect high school boyfriend.

- The Buffy finale is TEN YEARS OLD. Take a look at 27 moments you'll never forget from the final episode.

- A teenage girl has invented a way to block spoilers on Twitter. She wrote the code by herself in ten hours, and it's just 150 lines of code. Well done, I say!

- Please enjoy this list of all of Kramer's jobs

- Then take this Seinfeld quiz matching now-famous actors to their guest parts on the show. I got 100%. YES.

Happy weekend, everyone! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

Yay, it's Friday! And Melbourne is being a saucy minx, teasing us with this this gorgeous, late Autumn weather. Ahhh, Melbourne. Just when we think you're plunging us in the depressing, gray days of Winter, you seduce us with blue skies, warm sun, and pink skies at dusk. You cheeky thing, you!

Anyway, let's enjoy some Friday links with our sunshine, shall we?

- The Pregnant Husband is an hilarious tumblr full of gifs to express what one man went through while his wife was pregnant. When I was pregnant, I must say that this one was something I worried about a LOT in the final weeks.

- And now that his wife has given birth, The Pregnant Husband has a new blog called Daddy Newbie. When we had a newborn and I had to brave the supermarket for the first time, this is pretty much how I shopped that day. Also, this? This is possibly the most accurate description of new parenting ever.

- If you love John Karsinski and /or Jimmy Fallon, you need to watch this lip-sync off between them. I love the cutaways to the band. Hilarious.

- 17 photos you need to look at to really understand. Seriously, you will need to look more than twice at a lot of these!

- Parisian twin sisters live as each other's mirror image. So interesting.

- Netherlands work safety posters that a super creepy. Be careful on a ladder or a devil serpant will vomit fire on you! If you get your arm stuck in a piece of machinery, you will be sucked in a portal of hell!

On that note, happy weekend everyone! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

Long weekend, woo hoo! Well, I'm still on maternity leave, but for everyone else, woo hoo! I did try to give up chocolate until Easter, but that didn't go so well. There's just too much temptation - Easter egg chocolate, particularly the milk chocolate Cadbury variety is my weakness.

So, to get us started, the first link is about Easter eggs.

- 9 Ways to Enjoy Cadbury Creme Eggs. You're welcome. NUMBER THREE OMG.

- I haven't watched Veronica Mars in a loooong time, so this list of its now-famous guest stars was pretty cool.

- Flavorwire has compiled a list of the best break up lines in film.

- How to get that annoying earworm song out of your head. I ALWAYS get songs stuck in my head while I'm trying to fall asleep. Usually something annoying that I would never like, that I heard all of about three seconds of last week.

- Shoshanna from Girls cracks me up. Her million miles an hour, stream of consciousness chatter is hilarious, so please check out this Sh*t Shosh Says. Amazing.

- This has been floating around for a week or so: kids around the world with their most prized possessions

Happy weekend! Hope you don't (or do?) indulge in too much chocolate! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

I've been fighting a cold, so the Friday links are a Saturday edition this week! Let's get stuck straight into them, shall we?

- I loved this list of 22 of your Favourite Childhood Style Icons, Revisited. Besides the fact that it's kind of scary how much of this fashion is available RIGHT NOW in shops, I loved how spot on they are with all the characters. Especially Claudia Kishi. Although I think they left off the very important detail of stickers on her shoes, because I remember her doing that on at least one occasion. I think the book where she was accused of cheating on a maths test and the stickers were ocean themed and used on the day when she retook the test? I know, it's sad/amazing how much detail I remember about the BSC. Also, to this day, I still love Cher Horowitz's school wear wardrobe.

- This is from a couple of weeks ago, but it popped up a lot on my Facebook feed, so I thought I'd better post it. Harry Stamps was the dean of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and this is his obituary. You need to read the whole, thing. The last lines, in particular, are my favourite. I think in my obituary, I want to tell everyone to write to their member of parliament to ask for the repeal of blue coloured drinks. I just don't trust blue. It's not a flavour!

- This piece from NPR is interesting: Are romantic comedies dead? PLEASE, GOD, NO.

- Here is everything Carrie Bradshaw wondered throughout Sex and the City's run. Know what I wondered? How a writer with a teeny, tiny column in a tabloid newspaper could afford not to have any other source of income and still be able to have an apartment on the upper east side on Manhattan, and buy shoes that were $400 a pair. Right? RIGHT?

- Dog photobombs an apartment listing photos. Hilarious.

- Imagine a world without hate, prejudice, and bigotry. Kind of amazing, right?

Happy weekend everyone!

Fun Friday Links

It's been a quiet blogging week. I had hoped to do a book review, but I haven't finished the book yet, and I want to attempt an outfit post, but I need to wait until someone other than my ten month old is home to photograph it, because she's reached the stage where she likes to see how hard she can smash things against her high chair tray.

But in the meantime, here are some fun links to keep your Friday entertaining!

- I do love remembering Very Special Episodes from the 80s and 90s. This clip is a montage of the very best worst very special episodes. Remember the Punky Brewster ep with the girl in the fridge? Drama!! Love it.

- Growing up, my sister LOVED to hire Return to Oz from the video shop, and I would watch it with her, but man, that movie is kind of messed up. The Wheelers? The witch with the different heads in the hallway? I can't believe my mother let us keep watching it. Anyway, here are 11 of the most traumatising moments from the film. Oh my God, the insane asylum at the start! I forgot about that.

- Please enjoy this fifteen minute clip of people falling awkwardly. I think my favourite is the Dad jumping on the mattress his baby is sitting on, and seeing the baby fly up in the air. Cracked my shit up.

- Vulture has the Ultimate Sitcom Smackdown happening now. Thoughts? I don't know that Sex and the City can be compared anywhere near Seinfeld, but that's just me.

Happy long weekend if you're in Victoria! And happy....regular two day weekend if you're elsewhere.

Fun Friday Links

It's the first day of Autumn! The past two days have been cool, and it has been divine to go to bed feeling the need for a warm doona. Of course, fast forward about four months and I'll probably be moaning about the deluge of rain we'll probably have.

Here are your Friday links!

- Did you read Sweet Valley High in the 90s? Like The Baby Sitters Club, I never knew they were written by ghost writers when I was reading them as a teenager, so this interview with one of the ghost writers is really cool. Highlights here, full article here.

- Jennifer Lawrence is totally the media's darling right now. And why not? She's hilarious, adorable, and a brand new Oscar winner. So, here's Jennifer Lawrence being awesome at the Oscars in GIF form.

- Whether or not you enjoy the TV show Girls, this is an interesting piece on the costume designer for the show. I only have one comment - Hannah needs to stop wearing unflattering, high waisted shorts, PLEASE.

-This will fill in your Friday afternoon nicely - the 12 most strangely satisfying videos on the internet. I love the one of the chess piece being made. It kind of reminds of that clip from Seasme Street that showed crayons being made, which my sisters and I loved.

Happy weekend! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

Busy week for me this week! It was my birthday, and I finished my patchwork quilt, and I had to enroll my daughter in creche, and I did a bunch of other things, the most painful of which happened this morning when I sliced the crap out of my finger while cutting some chicken. GROSS.

Anyway, to distract me from the throbbing in my finger, let's look at some links!

- Nick Miller might be my favourite character on TV. In this piece from Vulture, actor Jake Johnson talks us through Nick Miller's most awkward moves. I just watched the episode where Nick is taken to the little pool by the Asian man, and I have not laughed that hard in a loooong time.

- Like Friends? Take this quiz on Buzzfeed, which is asking how well you know Friends. I watch reruns whenever they're on TV (it's a sickness, I can't not watch), and I'm sad to say I got two wrong.

- I haven't played The Sims in a while (my sister LOVES it), so I don't know how advanced it is now. This list of the 29 Weirdest Thing to Ever Happen in The Sims tells me that they are pretty crazy. Apparently you can drop your Sim baby in a FISH TANK? And sadly, I can related to number 4. A lot. Number 6 and number 13 cracked my shit up.

- The Oscars are this weekend! Some lady had the time to create a site that chronicles every Oscar stat imaginable. I hope you have the rest of the afternoon free, because it is INCREDIBLE.

- My sister lives in London, and posted a link to this Tumblr today. Books on the Underground is photos of books that live on the underground trains that people can read while they travel. Such a good idea! If they did that here, I might take public transport more often......MAYBE.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Fun Friday Links

I have spent most of this week watching the first season of Hart of Dixie. Could there BE a cuter show? I love it! Anyway, this is the other stuff I looked while not staring at the television. Enjoy.

- This is super sweet - a couple in the States adopted a young boy and his sister two years ago, and the mother took some 'newborn' photos of her son.

- Did your honey get you a lovely Valentine's Day card? No? It's not too late - maybe something from the Dictators of History range? I think the Leon Trotsky one is my favourite. Oh, Internet, you so crazy.

- Still on a Valentine's Day theme, check out Twitter's suggestions for sayings on those little candy hearts

- You need to read this article on the winner of Teen Jeopardy.  He didn't know the answer to the final Jeopardy question, but HE DIDN'T CARE.

That's it for this week, people. Have a good weekend! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

Happy Friday, everyone! Especially happy for Australians because it's a long weekend to celebrate Australia Day. Eat lots of lamingtons, meat pies pavlovas, and vegemite, people! But not all at once. Because that would be the worst mix of flavours in the world.

Let's look at some links!

- A baby elephant was born at Melbourne Zoo this past week. Please enjoy these ADORABLE pictures of it having a swim.

- Mad Men Season 6 promo pics. Joan looks amazing, as always.

- The President was sworn in this week, but it was the First Lady and the.....First Daughters(?) stole the show. I love that family.

- Let's laugh at celebrity year book photos. They're dorks, just LIKE US.

- I love Pinterest. BUT. I love Pinterest Fail even more. Ooh, and this one.

Enjoy your weekend, people! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

My first Fun Friday Links for 2013! Let's just get stuck into them, shall we?

- It's Summer in Australia, which means that in most places it is HOTTER THAN THE SUN RIGHT NOW. See photo evidence of this right here.

- This list of confessions from people in the creative/advertising field is hilarious. If you haven't ever done something like number eight then I don't know what to say to you.

- Jennifer Lawrence is way more hilarious than I realised, especially after reading this list of the 25 best Jennifer Lawrence quotes from 2012. Number three is my favourite.

- Weirdly creepy or super adorable? You decide: kid versions of celebrity fashion from the Golden Globes. I think the girl playing Halle Berry would be a hoot to hang out with.

- Meet Rino, a little girl from Japan. Her mother makes food from all over the world, then videos Rino (and sometimes her baby brother Yuuma) eating it. The results? ADORABLE.

- Keep up to date with Boredom Abounds By Julia by becoming a fan on Facebook. Also, I'm on Pinterest as BoredomAbounds - I have many, many delicious recipes pinned.

Happy weekend, everybody! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

Dear October: It's Spring. Would you stop with the gloomy, wet weather already? It's SO BORING. Lucky I had these links and a cute baby at home to keep me entertained.

- If you are a Beverley Hills: 90210 Original Flavour fan, you definitely want to check out this fashion retrospective. The shirts! They're so ugly!

- Still in the 1990s - the cast of Clueless reunites for a quick interview. The first time I ever caught public transport with my friends unaccompanied by adults was to go to the local shopping centre to watch Clueless. I even remember what I wore that day. Man, I was a dork. Sidenote: Christian totally got fat. I can't believe I don't own this movie on DVD.

- I am such a fan of shows like Funniest Home Videos and such where they show montages of stuff going wrong at big, fancy events, say, like at weddings. I could not stop laughing at this montage of wedding fails.

- It's October, so Halloween is coming, which means the internet will be full of best costume ever posts like this one over at Buzzfeed. 27 Halloween costumes that your childhood self would be proud of is awesome - I think number seven is my favourite.

Happy weekend, everyone! Pin It

Fun Friday Links

Wow, it's been a while since I did once of these, right?

- This is my new favourite Tumblr. I'm a born and bred Melbourne girl, so When In Melbourne cracks my shit up.

- As a dog lover, this Tumblr is also made of awesome. Dog Shaming - telling the world about the weird and cheeky stuff dogs do. Love it.

- I was browsing Pajiba the other night and came across this post of the 10 best 90s soundtrack songs, which, as someone who was a teenager in the 90s, completely delighted me. What do think of the number one song?

- Finally, please enjoy some Flight of the Conchords on this last Friday of Winter. It's for a good cause!

Seen anything good online this week? Hit me up in the comments!

Fun Friday Links

Hope you're enjoying the start of the four day weekend! And props to Mother Nature for making the weather gorgeous today in Melbourne. Unexpected, but greatly appreciated.

If you do happen to be working today, or you just want something entertaining to look at online, check out these links:

- 13 simple steps to get your through a rough day. These really are simple steps. And hilarious steps. I think number five is my favourite - that baby looks like it could kick some serious ass.

- Ever wonder what it's like to have a text message exchange with Hillary Clinton? It's basically like this. I love this one the most.

- In 1995 I was thirteen years old. And I watched most of these awesome movies. Especially Clueless and Now and Then. Sweet fancy moses, my friends and I watched those two films over and over and over again. Did you?

- This is a tumblr full of GIFs of how we react to real life situations. It's pretty good. Actually, it's really good. Especially this one. Wait, and this one.

That's it for today - enjoy your weekend and enjoy eating ridiculous amounts of chocolate, then pretending that you haven't when someone offers you some more. I know I probably will!

Fun Friday Links

I thought time would go a bit slower now that I'm on maternity leave, but I've been so busy that the weeks are flying by. My due date is now two weeks away and I'm trying to do a lot of things I know I won't have time to do for a while once the baby is born (or NEVER AGAIN if some people are to be believed - did you know that once you have a baby you'll never be able to get a manicure/pedicure/hair cut/read a book/etc EVER AGAIN? It's chilling, I tell you).

Anyway, I have had time to find a few fun links, because what's a Friday if you don't have something online to procrastinate with?

- This is just silly fun, but as a Friends fan I had to include it - a Tumblr dedicated to Chandler Bing dancing on things.

- Have a look at these photos and read the interview with the photographer who photographs a vision impaired school's prom each year. If you don't get a bit emotional while reading it, then you are DEAD INSIDE.

- Mad Men is back, yay! So we can expect to see it on Australian free to air TV in about two years, I guess? Hopefully not. But in the meantime, have a look at this list of Los Angeles filming locations used by the show to look like New York in the 60s.

- So many celebs have Twitter accounts these days, so you have to wonder how often they check to see who's talking about them. Jimmy Kimmel not only makes them check, but he makes them read out the mean Tweets people are writing about them. Hilarious.

Happy weekend everyone! Seen anything else cool online? Let me know in the comments!

Fun Friday Links

So it's Winter now? Or is it? Melbourne clearly has no idea, because the weather this week has been all over the shop. I kind of love it. Except when I've just hung washing out and it suddenly starts POURING and then I get totally FURIOUS.

But enough weather chat. Let's look at some links, sha ll we?

- First of all, I made a pretty big announcement yesterday - did you see it?

- Les Chats Ninjas! (Translation: The Ninja Cats). They are the most discreet spies in the world. Trust me.

- Animals with British accents. There's nothing else really to say. Mostly because I'm laughing too much at the gorilla farting.

- Barack Obama is a cool dude. Read this and watch the short video.

Fun Friday Links

My cold has finally, finally started to go away, thank goodness. Kleenex should make me a key stakeholder with the amount of money I've spent on bloody tissues this past ten days.

Anyway, let's move on to more exciting things. Here are this week's links!

- So often you hear about bad customer service stories. But over at Mental Floss, they've got 11 of the best customer service stories, and they're lovely to read.

- Baby red pandas playing in the snow! This will make your day one thousand times more bearable, I promise.

- Via the Fug Girls, you have to check out these 20 amazing hotel rooms. The treehouse one looks really, really relaxing. Some of the others....not so much. I suspect they would make me feel a tad psychotic.

- I don't have a cat, but these hilarious cat sleeping positions kind of make me wish I did, just so I could take photos of it sleeping and make amusing cat macros. Because the world just doesn't have enough cat macros.

Happy weekend everyone!~

Fun Friday Links

I am in the throws of the head cold will NOT GO AWAY. Day five, people. Day FIVE.

So anyway, let's look at some links to distract ourselves from the mucus fest that is my life right now.

Sorry - that was an overshare. Oh, well.

- Is this the GREATEST letter ever written to a weather man? Hint: it contains the sentence "you're more awesome than a monkey wearing a tuxedo made out of bacon", so yeah, it basically is.

- This is a couple of weeks old, but if you grew up in the 90s, please check out these 48 pictures that perfectly capture the totally rad decade that was the 90s. If you do nothing else today, please look at picture 34 to remember how ugly the internet used to look.

Okay, that's it for this week. I need to recover from looking at all the happy pants in those 90s pics. And maybe blow my nose for the one BILLIONTH TIME.

Fun Friday Links

We're off for a week of relaxation soon and I cannot wait. Whatever your doing for your weekend, I hope that today goes quickly for you and that these two videos make your Friday just a little bit better!

- Matthew Broderick is in a new Honda CR-V commercial. It's something of an homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off - see how many Ferris references you pick up on during the two and a half minutes. I really, really want a bright red phone like the one in the video. I have no use for it, since we have three phones in our house already (not including mobile phones), but it's so shiny!

- I've always liked Kristin Bell. She's cute and she seems like a fun person to hang out with. So I loved this video of her on Ellen where she brought home video of her FLIPPING OUT over the fact that her fiance got someone to bring a sloth to their house. A SLOTH. It's hilarious. There's a bit more from after the show, too.

- Did you check out my SAG Award Fashion Hits and Misses post from Tuesday? What did you think of the red carpet fashion?

Sadly, that's it for this week. I have approximately 157,879,25871 things to do between writing this and Friday afternoon, so it's a short and sweet one.

Happy weekend everyone!

It's award season, yay! Oscar nominations were announced this week (I SO hope Jean Dujardin wins for The Artist - if you enjoyed his performance, you should definitely check out the OSS:117 films he's in. Think a French version of Get Smart. Hilarious). Some of these links are related to the Oscars, some are not. Regardless, I hope you enjoy all of them!

- If 2012's Oscar-nominated film posters told the truth. I think the Leonardo DiCaprio one might be my favourite.

- Vulture has a great slideshow of what some of those For Your Consideration Oscar movie posters should really say. I really wish there was a category for Best Beard.

- I get that people are sick of those Sh*t Girls/Guys/Whoever Say videos, but I kind of love this one featuring Liz Lemon. Mostly because she's a huge dork who says the kind of stuff I often think.

- So, in the States, they have the Superbowl, which is basically like our AFL Grand Final. But they also have Puppy Bowl. Here's this year's line up of players (hint: contains lots of adorable dogs!), and I just learned that the dogs are all from animal shelters and throughout the match, information on how people can adopt them is shown. Awww! And for your viewing pleasure, here are some links to past matches.

- Finally, in shameless self-promotion, I'm linking to the fabulous Summer giveaway I'm currently running! I will post this prize pack to anywhere in the world, so you don't have to be in Australia to enter! Contest is running until next Tuesday, so make sure you enter ASAP.

That's it for this week - seen anything else good online? Hit up the comments and let me know! Pin It
