I am by no means a patchwork quilter. Rather, I know how to use a sewing machine and sew squares together with wadding in between. I made this over the past two months for a good friend who's having a baby girl soon. Since I gave it to her on Saturday, I can finally unveil it to the rest of the world!

Julia,
It's lovely! The fabric is great and you did such a wonderful job.
Thanks Courtney! Choosing the fabric is always my favourite part.
cute!
Thanks Melissa!
That quilt looks awesome!
Is it very complicated to sew the strips of fabric together? My friend's mom made us patchwork tote bags for being in her wedding kind of like that and I totally want to get my mom's old sewing machine and give it a try.
Mallory, it's really easy! I just measure and cut out squares, pin them together and sew! I do it one line at a time though, so the tricky part is sewing all the rows together and having the seams match up. TO avoid having them not match up, you have to make sure the squares are measured and cut to exactly the same length, and sewn with exactly the same seam allowance.
A tote bag would be cute, actually. I bet you could find a simple pattern for one online somewhere (maybe try the Amy Butler site?). Let me know how you go!
Love it!!!!
Thanks mofo!

Thanks Heidi! It was a bit rough around the edges, but I'm hoping to learn some proper patchworking skills in the new year.
Thanks for stopping by!
