Monday Morning Melody - The Crystals

This is probably my all time favourite song from the sixties. It's everything great about girl groups, about young love and about meeting the man of your dreams.

Blogging will resume as normal this week - I've been hella busy, sick and just worn out. I have almost finished my Oscars fashion post, and there should be another mammoth Glee post just as soon as I watch last week's ep.

My life, it is crazy.

Monday Morning Melody - Snow Patrol

Blah. I was really sick this past week and have barely been online. The plus side is that I happened to watch a bit of Rage on Saturday morning, something I rarely do, and I saw this song from Snow Patrol.

A bit of Googling and I discovered they released a new album in NOVEMBER, 2011. How did I not know this?? Oh, wait, I know. The radio stations here don't seem to have anything other than Rihanna, Lady Gaga and that new Coldplay song, that's why.

Anyway, besides the fact that it's a Snow Patrol song, this clip is visually gorgeous.

It was filmed in a theatre in downtown LA, and the choreography is so snappy. It doesn't hurt that the lady's dress is like liquid silk as she moves, and fancy wire work make this more than just a jazzy dance routine.

I've loved Snow Patrol for a long time, not just for the music, but also for Gary Lightbody's lyrics. I can't wait to get my hands on the album!

Three Zero

Gratuitous food post!

I turned 30 on Sunday. Big things are happening here at Chez Boredom Abounds, but for now, please enjoy a picture of the delicious cupcakes we had for my birthday cake.

These are from the lady who made our wedding cake and she is fabulous. Affordable, totally flexible with flavours and colours and just lovely to deal with. Several of my friends have also bought their wedding cakes and party cakes from her and I can't recommend her highly enough! This one was chocolate and vanilla marble swirl flavour, and we also had strawberry and vanilla swirl that were green with a white flower.

Sweet without being too rich and the perfect portion size!

Monday Morning Melody - Fun

So I totally missed last week's Fun Friday Links. Sorry!

Things have been manic, and I just did not have time to compile them, but here we are again at another Monday morning, so let's start our week with some music, shall we?

I've started hearing this on the radio a bit this past week or so, and I suspect it's going to get played to death and I'll end up hating it, but for now I love it.

Glee Highlights Post - Season 3: Episodes 7, 8 AND 9!

Being ridiculously busy for past three weeks means I spent Saturday afternoon catching up on Glee. Here are my many thoughts on the episodes I Kissed a Girl, Hold on to Sixteen and Extraordinary Merry Christmas.

Starting with Episode 7: I Kissed A Girl

Santana Is A Bully
....still. It's getting really old.

Cut because it's a hella long entry....Enjoy!

Holiday Eating

This is a really quick post about food. Specifically, the best meal I had while we were on holidays last week.

Salt and pepper squid with a lime and maple dressing on a rocket, cabbage and capsicum salad. I actually don't like sweet and savoury flavours mixed together, but this was so subtle it was absolutely delicious. The squid also had also been cooked in a little bit of curry powder, so the salty, curry flavour mixed beautifully together with the lime and maple. Probably the best squid I've ever eaten.

We enjoyed this meal at a little place called Flying Fish Cafe in Port Elliot, South Australia. It's definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the area - the beach in front of the cafe is just gorgeous as well.

Monday Morning Melody - Bluejuice

I've been away for a week of R 'n' R with the lovely Boredom Abounds Husband and we had a marvelous time doing not much at all, but now it's back to real life and posting will resume as normal this week!

I heard this song a couple of weeks ago, and no matter what you think of Lana Del Ray, this cover of her song Video Games by Aussie band Bluejuice is very cool. It's sort of bluegrass-y, which (for me) was an unexpected way to go for her music. There's about ninety seconds of chatter, but once you get past that, the song it very much worth a listen.
